The integrity of our democracy is in jeopardy, with hackers increasingly threatening our voting systems. Citizens for Voting Integrity New York is working locally and nationally to protect our democracy to ensure that every vote is counted as cast.

Citizens for Voting Integrity is a non-partisan group formed when the Help America Vote Act of 2002 HAVA required that New York replace lever voting machines with new computerized voting equipment.  Working together with New Yorkers for Verified Voting, the League of Women Voters, the Sierra Club, Count the Paper and other groups, CVI successfully worked for adoption of a voting system based on paper ballots rather than hackable touchscreen voting machines.

Since that time, Citizens for Voting Integrity New York has been working to reform election law to create elections that are:

  • Secure: 100% hand counted audits adequate to detect fraud must be implemented.

  • Transparent: The public must have the right to observe the vote count and review ballot images to confirm

  • Verifiable: Ballots must be hand marked by the voter so the voter’s intent is clear.

Our Mission

The mission of Citizens for Voting Integrity New York is to protect democracy by ensuring that every vote is counted as cast. Elections must be secure, transparent and verifiable.
