Email the four U.S. Election Assistance Commissioners and tell them to restore the full ban on wireless in voting machines in the new voting system guidelines.
Will the next generation of voting systems be protected from hackers foreign and domestic?
On February 10, the U.S. Election Assistance Commission (EAC) plans to vote on new standards for American voting systems, standards we need to improve election security.
But their new standards include a loophole that allows wireless devices in our voting machines, if they are disabled.
We don’t want to see wireless in voting systems, period. Bad actors can re-enable wireless modems, leaving voting machines vulnerable.
The Voluntary Voting System Guidelines 2.0 will set the standards by which election equipment is tested and deemed secure.
Together we advocated for improved security standards last year and won a revision to ban wireless in voting systems. But without action now, the ban will be watered down.
