The New York State Board of Elections may certify the ES&S Expressvote XL as early as this Thursday July 27. Let them know you oppose the ExpressVote XL and want to keep our current system of marking our paper ballots ourselves. Email your comments to

Sample comment:
"The ExpressVote XL cannot comply with NY Election Law which requires voting machines to: "provide the voter an opportunity to privately and independently verify votes selected and the ability to privately and independently change such votes or correct any error before the ballot is cast and counted." The EV XL encodes every vote cast in a bar code format on a piece of paper that no voter can verify or correct.”

...With the certification of the ExpressVote XL, New York would be one of the only states transitioning to a less secure form of voting. The 14 states that rely on ballot-marking devices, like the ExpressVote XL, have mostly started to phase out these machines….New York cannot risk jeopardizing its elections by trusting a broken system. I stand with Common Cause/NY and demand the ExpressVote XL not be certified for New York elections.
